Peace Out to Our 70s Collection
Posted on April 02 2025,
It's been many (dark side of the) moons since we first conceptualized our psychedelic 70s collection, so it's hard to say why or how it spoke to us initially. We absolutely turned to the pins of Pinterest for almighty inspo, and it's safe to assume fantastic fringe and classic crochet led the way to avocado greens, poppy reds, harvest golds, and burnt oranges.
Plus, we'd be lying if we didn't acknowledge Eve's record collection as a source of excitement. From Elton Joh's multi-platinum (and arguably best) album Goodbye Yellow Brick Road to Jethro Tull's Thick as a Brick and anything by the Moody Blues, Eve had acquired quite a hoard through her regular habit of pilfering her parent's music stash, all in the name of Classic Rock.
From 2023 to 2024, we leveled up our booth presentation, so we obviously had to feature a live functioning record player as well as another staple of the era: a working lava lamp. Unfortunately the weather had a hand in dictating just how well the lava lamp would... well, lava.
We aimed to bring the 70s to our shoppers more and more authentically with each passing festival. While we started simply with the colors of the era, we continued to level up with a cork mood board and a tinsel adorned Christmas tree around the holidays. We received a lot of comments to the tune of, "this makes me feel like I'm smoking weed back in my parents' basement!" Good thing we had crafted a Mary Jane colorway to make everyone feel right at home.

Our setup still stands to receive some upgrades, but we're planning a lot more in the way of experiential treats if you visit us at any of our 2025 events (PA Endless Mountains Fiber Festival, A Woolen Affair, Pennsylvania Fall Fiber Arts Festival). Coffee and donuts could be on offer, for all we know. Stay tuned as we cultivate our next thematic lineup!
In the meantime, we'd like to think we have our product photography skills on lock, which works for us, since we plan to use the year ahead to focus on online sales. We really hammed it up for the camera with our staged shoots demonstrating our colorways in their most natural habitats.
"Chill Pill" (the artist formerly known as "Peach Seltzer") receives a zhuzh before posing for some close-ups.
You can check out all the awesome colors of the 70s Collection in our shop before they peace out for good. And while we excitedly await what's to come and brainstorm our next experiential extravaganza, we look back fondly on how far we've come in our dyeing journey by way of hippies, shag rugs, and the disco era.
